Sapiens ClaimsPro alternatives

Five options for teams re-testing a core claims system.

Last updated 23 September 2026

Judged on: Whether the product is a claims system of record or a layer that runs on top of one, How much of FNOL, coverage, adjudication, payment and recovery the public materials actually claim, How much of the file the AI closes out, versus how much lands back on an adjuster, Buyer fit: large carrier, midsize carrier, TPA, risk pool or self-insured program, Ownership, roadmap and public evidence: filings, named awards, documented integrations

Verdict

The closest alternatives to Sapiens ClaimsPro are other core claims systems: Guidewire ClaimCenter for large carriers, Duck Creek for carriers buying an agentic core, Majesco Claims for mid-market suite buyers, and Origami Risk for TPAs, risk pools and self-insured programs. Hesper AI is not a core at all: it is the resolution layer that runs on top of whichever core you keep.

Context

Sapiens ClaimsPro is the core claims system inside the Sapiens Insurance Platform for P&C, covering personal and commercial lines plus workers' compensation. Sapiens itself was taken private by Advent International on 17 December 2025 and delisted from Nasdaq and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, which is why many buyers are re-testing the market now. Shortlisting splits two ways. If you are replacing a claims core, the real alternatives are Guidewire ClaimCenter, Duck Creek Claims, Majesco Claims for P&C and Origami Risk, each built around a different kind of buyer. If you are keeping the core and buying the AI that works inside it, the question is what the agents finish, and that is where Hesper AI belongs on the list. Everything below was checked against vendor pages, press releases and filings in September 2026.

Why people look for Sapiens ClaimsPro alternatives

Four reasons come up. First, ownership: Sapiens' own filing with the SEC confirms the Advent International take-private closed on 17 December 2025, the shares stopped trading on Nasdaq and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, and the CEO of twenty years stepped down at the end of that month. Procurement teams re-test the market after a change like that. Second, a core claims replacement is a bigger program than many buyers wanted. Third, AI timing: SapiensAIP, the AI-native platform announced on 14 September 2026, is built to extend Sapiens' core products rather than ship inside them, so claims agents are a roadmap conversation. Fourth, scope: the public ClaimsPro pages and the 2024 ClaimsPro brochure describe fraud identification and leakage reduction but do not describe a subrogation, salvage or SIU investigation workflow (checked September 2026). Pricing is quote-only.

Guidewire ClaimCenter - the deepest delivery bench and the widest Marketplace

For an enterprise P&C carrier re-testing a core, ClaimCenter is the benchmark every other bid gets measured against. Guidewire's product page states 270+ customers in more than 30 countries, a 700+ R&D team it calls the largest in the industry, and more than 800 consultants drawn from its consulting partners, which is the deepest delivery bench on this list. Its in-claims AI story currently centres on ProNavigator, described as insurance-grade intelligence embedded directly inside ClaimCenter so expertise is not a function of tenure. The Marketplace is the real differentiator and the real trade: investigation and recovery depth arrives as validated partner apps rather than from ClaimCenter itself. Guidewire's own press centre and Marketplace list VRC Investigations for investigative and SIU services, Skopenow for investigative pre-check and a CCC subrogation accelerator. That is a strength if you want best-of-breed choice, and a cost if you wanted one contract and one roadmap. Neither Guidewire nor Sapiens publishes pricing, so compare on program size, ecosystem fit and how much of the stack you want to assemble yourself.

Duck Creek Claims - best for carriers who want agentic claims in the core now

Duck Creek sells claims as part of an agentic core rather than as a roadmap. Its own site states 30 million+ claims processed through Duck Creek OnDemand and scaling to 60,000+ claims per day during a catastrophe event, and it lists Agentic First Notice of Loss and Document Intelligence as shipping products, though Duck Creek's own Agentic FNOL page says that solution is currently focused on personal auto FNOL, alongside an open architecture it describes as 2,600+ APIs and 100+ pre-built partner integrations (all figures from duckcreek.com, checked September 2026). Duck Creek was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for SaaS P&C Insurance Core Platforms, North America, published 14 September 2026, its eighth consecutive year as a Leader, and placed furthest right for Completeness of Vision. Lines covered include personal and commercial auto, homeowners, workers' compensation, medical professional liability, pet and specialty. If your objection to ClaimsPro is that you want agentic intake and document handling inside the core today, this is the closest like-for-like swap - but ask which lines the agentic pieces actually cover on your timeline, because the shipping scope is narrower than the platform story.

Majesco Claims for P&C - best for midsize carriers replacing the whole suite

Majesco is the most direct like-for-like alternative for a mid-market suite buyer, because the comparison is suite to suite: policy, billing and claims from one vendor, the same shape as Sapiens CoreSuite. Majesco's product page describes bringing FNOL through closure onto one platform, with Majesco Copilot and task-specific AI agents working inside adjuster screens, embedded analytics, One Inc digital payments and integrations with OFAC and LexisNexis. Scale is public, with a caveat about which number you are reading. Majesco announced its agreement to acquire Vitech on 21 November 2025 and closed it in January 2026, and that announcement put the combined company at more than 375 customers, including over 275 across the P&C segment. Majesco's own April 2026 press boilerplate states a different pair of figures - 1,000+ implementations and over 350 insurers, reinsurers and MGAs - so ask which basis any number you are quoted is on. Be aware of the same dynamic you may be leaving Sapiens over. Majesco is Thoma Bravo backed and actively consolidating. Its public claims page describes integrating social media, private records, public information and claims history to assess claim authenticity and identify exceptions, but it does not use the word fraud and does not describe a subrogation or SIU investigation workflow (checked September 2026).

Origami Risk - best for TPAs, risk pools and self-insured programs

Origami Risk is the answer when the buyer is not a carrier. Its claims administration pages describe consolidating data and administering claims across all lines of coverage, both for organisations that self-administer and for those overseeing data from TPAs and carriers: incident intake, reserve and payment tracking, litigation management, auto-generated claim summaries, jurisdiction-specific regulatory forms and OSHA reporting. Of the four core and administration systems here, it is the only one whose public claims page names recovery outright, promising to identify recovery opportunities and track subrogation efforts. The same page also describes searching ISO databases to find duplicate claims and uncover potential fraud or prior incidents. If you are a TPA, a public entity, a risk pool or a self-insured employer, a carrier-shaped core like ClaimsPro will handle policy-linked claims well and leave you to build the program administration and reporting layer around it. Origami starts from that layer instead.

Hesper AI - best when the core stays and the claim work needs finishing

Say this plainly: Hesper AI is not a claims core, and if your project is to replace ClaimsPro, buy one of the four above. Hesper is the AI claims resolution layer. It integrates with the claims system of record and does the work inside it: FNOL extraction, triage, coverage analysis with cited positions, investigation, estimation and supplement review, settlement and demand review, payee and anomaly checks before money moves, and subrogation screening on every file. The difference from a core vendor's AI is what the agents finish rather than hand back. Clean claims resolve straight through; suspicious claims get an investigation-grade workup with sourced, timestamped evidence behind each decision. It is the wrong purchase if you need policy administration, billing, state reporting or a system of record. Pricing is scoped to your book, so it comes out of a demo, not a rate card.

Where Sapiens ClaimsPro is still the right answer

Often, and the analyst record says so. Celent named ClaimsPro for P&C in North America a Luminary in its 2024 Claims Systems Vendors report, selecting it out of 32 North American core claims solutions, and called it a comprehensive and highly adaptable core claims system, ideal for both personal and commercial lines, with strengths in adjuster personalization, efficient claims management and advanced payment options, and a top choice for midsize and small insurers. That is the honest buyer fit. For a midsize carrier, ClaimsPro with PolicyPro and BillingPro is a coherent one-vendor stack, and Sapiens' own 2024 brochure cites over 600 customers in 30 countries. Workers' compensation is a genuine strength: the ClaimsPro for Workers' Compensation page covers FROI to final benefit resolution, with OCI, CMS, FROI and SROI reporting, split payments, offsets and 1099 processing. Payments are pre-integrated with One Inc ClaimsPay. Replacing a working core purely to get AI you could add on top is an expensive trade.

Staying on ClaimsPro, or building the layer yourself

The third option is to keep ClaimsPro and add to it. A core replacement consumes the same IT and change capacity you would need for anything else for several quarters, and SapiensAIP, announced on 14 September 2026, is explicitly built to extend Sapiens' core products with agentic tools across underwriting, policy, billing, claims and customer engagement. Some of what you are shopping for may arrive in the stack you already own, so ask for the claims-agent roadmap in writing, with dates and named customers. Building the layer in-house is the weakest of the three. Document forensics, entity verification against sources like NICB, ISO ClaimSearch and DMV data, and an auditable evidence trail are not a quarter of work, and regulators, reinsurers and capacity partners will ask how each decision was reached.

How we compared

  • Whether the product is a claims system of record or a layer that runs on top of one
  • How much of FNOL, coverage, adjudication, payment and recovery the public materials actually claim
  • How much of the file the AI closes out, versus how much lands back on an adjuster
  • Buyer fit: large carrier, midsize carrier, TPA, risk pool or self-insured program
  • Ownership, roadmap and public evidence: filings, named awards, documented integrations

Who should use what

Guidewire ClaimCenter or Duck Creek Claims

Carriers with the capacity to run a full core replacement

  • You need a system of record, not a layer on top of one
  • Guidewire if you want the largest partner and consultant ecosystem
  • Duck Creek if you want agentic FNOL and document AI shipping today
  • You can fund and staff a multi-quarter core program

Majesco Claims

Midsize carriers replacing the whole suite, not just claims

  • Closest like-for-like swap for a Sapiens CoreSuite footprint
  • Policy, billing and claims from one vendor with one roadmap
  • GenAI and task-specific agents already inside adjuster screens
  • Check the same ownership question: private-equity backed and consolidating

Origami Risk

TPAs, risk pools, public entities and self-insured employers

  • Built for program administration, not policy-linked carrier claims
  • Jurisdictional forms and OSHA reporting are in the product
  • Recovery and subrogation tracking named on the product page
  • Works whether you self-administer or oversee TPAs and carriers

Hesper AI

Teams keeping their claims core and needing the claim work finished

  • Wrong choice if you need policy admin, billing or a system of record
  • Right choice if cycle time and leakage are the problem, not the core
  • Clean claims resolve straight through; suspicious claims get a full workup
  • Subrogation screening on every file, with sourced evidence behind decisions

Frequently asked questions

For a core claims replacement: Guidewire ClaimCenter (large carriers), Duck Creek Claims (carriers who want agentic capability shipping in the core), Majesco Claims for P&C (midsize suite buyers) and Origami Risk (TPAs, risk pools and self-insured programs). If you are keeping the core and buying the AI that runs inside it, Hesper AI is on the list instead, as a layer rather than a replacement.

Yes. Sapiens' own SEC filing confirms the Advent International take-private closed on 17 December 2025, after which the shares stopped trading on Nasdaq and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and the company began operating privately, with Formula retaining a minority stake. ClaimsPro is still sold and supported, and Sapiens announced its AI-native platform, SapiensAIP, on 14 September 2026.

No vendor on this list publishes pricing, so anyone quoting you a comparison number is guessing. The cost that usually matters is the program, not the licence: replacing a core costs implementation, migration and change capacity for several quarters. Layering AI on the core you already run avoids that. Hesper pricing is scoped to your book and comes out of a demo.

Its public pages say it incorporates predictive models for initial severity assessment and automated fraud detection, and the brochure lists identifying and preventing fraud and reducing leakage. That is detection and case management, not investigation. The ClaimsPro pages and the 2024 brochure do not describe an SIU investigation workflow (checked September 2026). For scale, the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud puts fraud at about 10% of property-casualty incurred losses and loss adjustment expenses - a figure it attributes to a late-1980s Insurance Information Institute estimate, so treat it as an order of magnitude rather than a current measurement.

The public ClaimsPro product pages and the 2024 ClaimsPro brochure do not describe subrogation or salvage recovery workflows (checked September 2026), so ask Sapiens directly rather than assuming either way. On this list, Origami Risk names recovery and subrogation tracking on its product page, Guidewire covers it through business rules plus Marketplace partners, and Hesper screens every file for subrogation and salvage.

No. Two routes avoid it. SapiensAIP is explicitly built to extend Sapiens' core products with agentic tools across underwriting, policy, billing, claims and customer engagement, so ask for the claims-agent roadmap with dates. Or add an AI resolution layer that integrates with the core you already run, which is what Hesper does, keeping ClaimsPro as the system of record.
